A Patient with Treatment-resistant Depression Who Achieved Remission with Heated Yoga: A Case Report

Novel interventions are needed to manage treatment-resistant depression (TRD), defined as patients who do not respond two or more antidepressant trials of adequate dose and duration. We report on a 28-year-old female with TRD nonresponse several antidepressants experienced full symptomatic remission after participating in the heated hatha yoga (HY) arm randomized controlled trial (RCT) for depression. Patients, including one interest, were 8 weeks at least twice weekly HY an 8-week waitlist followed by HY. incorporates plus heat through series standardized poses performed room (105°F). The 30-item Inventory Depressive Symptoms, Clinician-Rated (IDS-C30) 28-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D28) assessed key time points throughout study. patient attended 16 classes over weeks.
